The Heart Behind “The Girl They Warned You About”

My upcoming EP, The Girl They Warned You About, truly holds my heart and soul. This project has been such a meaningful creative journey, and I’ve had the privilege of working with the incredible team at Plaid Dog Recordings in Boston to bring these songs to life.

Every track on the EP tells a piece of my story, but one of my personal favorites is “Love Again.” It’s a traditional country ballad that really captures the lingering pain of a past relationship and the complicated emotions that come with trying to open your heart again. Writing and recording that song felt deeply personal, and I think anyone who has experienced heartbreak will recognize a piece of themselves in it.

Another song that deserves a special mention is “Trailer Park T-Girl.” While it’s loosely autobiographical, it’s also a bit of self-aware humor. I grew up around trailer park culture in the South—while not specifically in it—and it became a lens through which I’ve seen a lot of life. The song is my playful way of poking fun at myself while also acknowledging some of the stereotypes and perceptions people often place on Southern trans women. At its core, it’s meant to be both honest and a little bit cheeky.

Right now, the projected release date for The Girl They Warned You About is October 1st, and I genuinely cannot wait to share it with you all. This EP represents a lot of growth, vulnerability, and storytelling for me, and I hope these songs find their way into your hearts the same way they came from mine.

Thank you for being here and supporting my journey.
